How do you calculate electricity costs?

We use the national average electricity rate published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), which is updated monthly. As of 2026, we’re using approximately $0.16 per kWh as the baseline. For state-specific rates, we reference the most recent EIA data. Our cost calculation methodology is explained in detail in our methodology page.

Can you recommend a specific brand or model?

While we provide data on wattage, efficiency, and operating costs for various appliances, we don’t make specific brand or model recommendations. Our goal is to give you the information you need to make an informed decision based on your specific needs and budget.
